Cashinahua II

Fabric, wood, flowers

38 species of animal in the Amazon are now doomed to extinction due to deforestation, they are the walking dead. This piece of work, constructed of 38 fabric segments, and 38 embroidered threads is a reflection of this shocking number. Created with an aim to replicate an Amazonian tribe; Cashinahuan's, death ritual. All of the candles and fire damage signify that time is spent and the damage can no longer be undone.

This is the second version of the work, resembling more of the funeral rite, represented by the flowers and the work being staged outdoors in nature.
